Read My Heart and St. Louis Comic Con

I had the honor of reading HEART to two classes at Holy Cross Lutheran School and Church. It was a fantastic time and the kids were so well behaved. I look forward to doing more school readings in the future.

Also I was down in St. Louis for the Wizard World show and I had an absolute blast their as well. The cardBORED box went over well and Nicole and I geeked out over meeting half the cast of Firefly/Serenity.
You can find me at c2e2 at the end of this month as convention season rolls right along for me.

365 days of #cardBORED sketching

Go back and relive a year of drawings done by me: http://thecardboredsketchbox.blogspot.com/

Let me know what your favorites were!

Reading Heart

Hello friends,

It's been a while since I've posted something on here that wasn't related to a convention appearance. So I thought I would share what has been my favorite thing I've done this year. My niece, who turned 5 this past January, asked me to be her special guest and to read HEART to her class on her birthday.

This was actually the first time I've read the book to an audience and it went over really well. The kids laughed and awed as the emotional beats played out in the book. Their reactions to the imagery were really great especially at the end when L.B. and Thump hugged it out and made a complete heart.

It was nice to be in that room with the children as they discovered the story for the first time. It's the proudest I've ever been of the book.

My brother was kind enough to snap a few shots of my reading:
