I attended Free Comic Book Day at Aw Yeah Comics-Skokie on the first Saturday of May. I had a great time drawing along side comic buddies, Art Baltazar and Alejandro Rosado!

Happy Free Comic Book Day, boys and girls!  Victor and I will be posting a page-a-day for an entire week from an all new Wonder Care story!

AW YEAH FCBD 2015!

This past Saturday (May 2) I was at Aw Yeah Comics for Free Comic Book Day! I had the pleasure of sketching with some greats like Jeffrey Brown (Darth Vader and Son), Art Baltazar (Itty Bitty Hellboy), Benjamin Hunzeker (Sonic The Hedgehog), and Scoot McMahon (Sami The Squirrel)! It was so much fun sketching for the crowd and you can see some of those sketches I did right here. Thanks to Marc Hammond and the Aw Yeah Crew for inviting me and making me feel right at home!

FCBD 2012

Hello!

This year for FCBD I opted not to set up a a signing anywhere.  I've just been really busy lately and deep into the production of Heart that I thought skipping it this year would provide me with some rest and relaxation time in between the heavier weeks.  Also I made plans with the misses to check out Wrigley and attend my first Cubs game.  You can read more about that here.

For FCBD we decided to head out to Skokie, IL and check out the grand opening of Aw Yeah Comics.  Owners and writer - artist  extraordinaires, Art Baltazar and Franco were doing signings and free sketches for everyone who came out.  The store looks great with Art and Franco's artistic touches painted throughout the comic shop walls.

There wasn't much left in terms of free comics as were a bit late to the party but Nic and I got a copy of the Superman Family Adventures preview that Art and Franco will be doing as a monthly series for DC.  We also got some sweet sketches and free hot dogs! (A winning combination for any comic fan.)

It was a great time and couldn't be happier for Art and Franco as they expanded the world they play in and opened a comic shop for the kids.

Recap: FCBD 2011

Hello this past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day. I was at signing at Dreamland Comics with Art Balthazar and Jeff Balke. A lot of families came out which was awesome and I gave out some free When I Was Little book marks and did some sketch cards for the kiddies.

After the event, I hung out with some of my good friends. We had linner at The Village Tavern where I had something amazing called, The Nachorama....oh yeah good eats:


Aftewards we continued the hangout where we played the new Mortal Kombat for the 360. I. Must. Own. That game is incredibly fun.

After that, I caught a double feature of Thor and Fast Five. Thor was amazing and it grows on you after the fact. The epic scale of Asgard and the humanity of it's characters it is definitely a great summer flick.

Free Comic Book day was a blast. I hope you got some good comics and met some great creators. On to the next: Summit City, June 18

FCBD 2010: recap

I wish I had more to post about FCBD but my partner in crime had to work so I wasn't really able to capture any pictures. The main reason was because when I got settled in at Dreamland Comics, I threw this sign up:



The sign really worked and the store got really busy in the afternoon. I was amazed at the number of parents coming in with their kids getting them interested in comics. I met some nice people who really took a liking to my art style and said it was perfect for their kids. All in all it was a fun event. I drew a lot of Supergirls and Wonder Women for the kiddies. I want to send a big thank you out to Laurie and the staff of Dreamland Comics, they were all great! Next year, I'll remember to bust out the camera and snap some photos.

Funny I picked up mostly the kid comics...go figure. My coworker was kind enough to give me War of The Supermen #0. I spent the other day reading up on the back story and must now collect the entire 2 years worth in hardcovers and trades to catch up. I can't wait! Buuuut I gotta read all these comics first.
